Contempt of Trump: Judge Merchan will tomorrow consider convicting Trump of criminal contempt for four additional violations of the gag order
NEW YORK — Judge Juan Merchán scheduled a hearing Thursday morning to consider whether Donald Trump should be found guilty of criminal contempt for violating the limited gag order in his case on four additional occasions.
The hearing comes two days after Judge Juan Merchán found Trump guilty of criminal contempt for violating the gag order nine times, fined the former president $9,000 (the maximum fine allowed under state law) and threatened that future violations could result in prison.
Prosecutors have asked Merchan to fine Trump $4,000 for the four new alleged violations, including comments Trump said in a extensive interview with 6abc Action News in Philadelphia.
