Anya Taylor-Joy cuts a quirky figure in a gold dress adorned with arrows as she joins a loved-up Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky at the Aussie premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Anya Taylor-Joy put on a very quirky display as she joined Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky at the Australian premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga on Thursday.

The actress, 28, is known for her epic red carpet looks and put on a very unique display as she stepped out at Sydney’s State Theatre for the star-studded event.

Anya, who stars as the titular character Imperator Furiosa in the Mad Max prequel, turned heads in an extravagant gold outfit featuring a dramatic headpiece.

She put on a leggy display in an extravagant gold beaded mini dress, which bizarrely featured a collection of beaded arrows sticking out of the skirt.

Anya tucked her platinum locks beneath a matching gold headpiece, which similarly featured an array of arrows jutting out at various angles. 

She was joined on the red carpet by her co-star Chris and his wife Elsa, who have become a Hollywood fan favourite couple since tying the knot in 2010.

Chris, who portrays Dr. Dementus in Furiosa, cut a dapper figure in a checkered black suit as he stepped out to celebrate the release of his latest adventure epic.

He teamed his ensemble with a black shirt and a pair of smart shoes as he stepped out alongside his wife, Spanish model Elsa, 47. 

Elsa put on a busty display in a glitzy black lace gown embellished with sequins and featuring a daring side split.

She toted her essentials in a small black clutch bag and accessorised her bombshell ensemble with a gold necklace as she posed up a storm with Chris.

Elsa – who shares a daughter India, 11, and twin boys Sasha and Tristan, nine, with Chris – was every inch the proud wife as she supported Chris’ latest film release. 

The Queen’s Gambit actress tucked her platinum blonde tresses beneath a matching headpiece, which also featured a whole host of arrows.

She made sure to turn heads in her unique ensemble and completed her look with a pair of translucent heels. 

Elsewhere, Nicole Kidman’s niece Lucia Hawley, 26, put on a leggy display in a stylish black gown with padded shoulders and a daring side split.

Lucia, the daughter of actress Nicole’s sister Antonia and late businessman Angus Hawley, gave herself a few extra inches in a pair of pointed black heels.

Mad Mad: Furiosa, the fifth movie in the long-running series, will be released in cinemas on Thursday, May 23.

The film tells the origin story of a young Imperator Furiosa, played by Anya, who rose to fame as the star of Netflix hit The Queen’s Gambit.

Chris portrays villainous character Dementus, who he has described as ‘a very violent, insane, brutal person that is born from the Wasteland’.

‘He has been birthed into a space where it’s kill or be killed. He’s learned to rule with an iron fist. There’s a charisma to him and it’s very manipulative,’ he said at CCXP in Brazil, where the trailer footage was unveiled.

Furiosa was filmed in New South Wales and was expected to become the biggest movie ever to be made in Australia. Filming wrapped up in September 2022. 

Franchise creator George Miller returned as director and co-writer of Furiosa, alongside Nico Lathouris, as well as his long-time producing partner Doug Mitchell.

George described the prequel as ‘a saga’ that will be told over a 15-year period, which is much different from Fury Road, which spanned three days in its timeframe.
