A pre-investigation investigation has begun regarding the novel “Heritage”

A pre-investigation check was launched regarding Vladimir Sorokin’s novel “Heritage” due to “description of sexual scenes with minors.” About it reports RIA Novosti with reference to an unnamed source.

The check is carried out under the article on the production and circulation of materials or objects with pornographic images of minors. “Preliminarily, the reason was the presence in the work of descriptions of sex scenes involving minors,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

Previously, the novel, published by AST, disappeared from the search of a number of online stores, including Labyrinth, Wildberries and Read-City. The Mash Telegram channel then reported that more than one and a half thousand writers and readers wrote a statement to the Investigative Committee demanding an inspection of the publishing house for LGBT propaganda and child abuse propaganda.

After this, the publishing house announced that it would send the novel for examination to be checked for compliance with Russian legislation. At the same time, AST itself stated that the editors and publishers did not see anything reprehensible in the text of the book.

Subsequently, a letter appeared on social networks, which AST allegedly sent to bookstores. It demands that the sale of the novel “Inheritance” be stopped, both in paper and electronic form.

  • The novel “Legacy”, published in 2023, is the third part of Sorokin’s dystopia. The first two parts – “Blizzard” and “Doctor Garin” – were published in 2010 and 2020, respectively, by the Corpus publishing house, affiliated with AST. The book is sold with an 18+ marker.
