The health condition of the Slovak Prime Minister improved after he was subjected to an assassination attempt

Bratislava, May 20 / WAM / The hospital treating Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced on Monday that the Prime Minister’s condition continues to improve, including his ability to communicate, five days after he was subjected to an assassination attempt.

The hospital in the city of Banska Bystrica and Deputy Prime Minister Rupert Kalinac announced yesterday, Sunday, that Fico (59 years old) was no longer in danger.

Although the health condition of the Slovak Prime Minister has improved, the hospital said that it is unlikely that Viko will be transferred to the capital, Bratislava, to receive care in the coming days.

Fico was shot at close range after holding a cabinet meeting in the small town of Handelova, when he stood in front of a crowd of people to shake hands with them.

The authorities described the crime as politically motivated, and the attacker was detained and charged with attempted murder.
