CNN anchor looks mortified as rapper Cam’ron asks ‘who booked me for this’ and says ‘I’m going to get some cheeks’ after downing sex drink during disastrous interview about Diddy hotel video

CNN anchor Abby Phillip appeared stunned during a disastrous interview with rapper Cam’ron’s to discuss the video of Diddy abusing Cassie Ventura.

Cam’ron, real name Cameron Giles, was invited to speak on NewsNight to talk about the shocking clip, but wondered out loud why he was booked after taking a shot of a sex drink.

Phillip asked him: ‘Do you recognize the man in that video?’ to which he responded that he finds everything Diddy is accused of, including the clip, ‘egregious’ and things he doesn’t support, saying that he knows him but is not necessarily a friend.

However, when Phillip asked him the same question, Cam’ron’s appearance started to go off the rails.

‘I don’t know him like that. What do you mean did I recognize him? I seen him. What do you mean my experiences? I seen him and I thought it was disgusting, I didn’t do a zoom in to see if it was really him or nothing, but he admitted it was him so yeah, it was him.’

It went further afield when Cam’ron, 48, was asked by Phillip what his feelings were on Combs’ subsequent apology video.

‘The apology ain’t for me, it’s for Cassie. He ain’t do nothing for me. What I think about it don’t matter. You need to ask Cassie if she accepts the apology. I said what I said.’

Phillip – who at one point gives a mortified look at her producer – then plays a video of Cam’ron talking to fellow rapper Mase on his podcast ‘It Is What It Is’ where he asks Mase why he took him the Notorious BIG and not Diddy’s Bad Boy when Mase got a record deal.

‘Being that I saw you as a good friend, I wanted you with somebody I knew,’ Mase responded.

‘Instantly I knew Biggie would do right by you,’ he added.

Phillip then tries to turn this into a question about whether Diddy’s behavior was known throughout the industry back then, when Cam’Ron officially goes rogue.

The rapper takes a shot of PinkHorsePower – a supplement ‘designed to empower man’s sexual intimacy by helping to improve stamina and libido’ – before the rapper said ‘sorry, I’m gonna’ go get some cheeks after this horse power drink.’

He then held the can of the drink up for promotion before saying that he was just going off what Mase knew, because ‘I don’t really know Puff like Mase knows Puff.’

‘I appreciate what Mase said and of course, that’s my brother so if he felt that way, he felt that way. I can’t really tell you how Puff moves, Mase would know better than me.’

He then promoted ‘It Is What It Is’ and suggested that you might learn more from Mase on future appearances.

Undeterred, Phillip tries to then ask Cam’ron about ‘the industry in general’ and if there were a lot of people protecting Diddy that allowed him to commit these actions.

Giles then pointed out the absurdity of his appearance, saying: ‘Who’s the talent agent for this joint? You think I be sitting around watching what Diddy do? I didn’t know this was a Diddy joint that y’all invited me to. Who booked me for this joint?’

Phillip then got out of the interview, to which Cam’ron responded: ‘Thank you for having me.’

Cam’ron said it best later when he wrote on Instagram ‘f*** they invite me on CNN for?’

Cam’Ron is no stranger to outrageous behavior or controversy with CNN. In 2014, he started selling Ebola masks with his own face on them and in 2016, pitched his own line of toilet paper.

In 2018, while appearing with hip-hop group The Diplomats, they caused outrage by wearing military-style ribbons on stage.

Most famously, Cam’Ron voiced his support for the ‘Stop Snitching’ movement on an appearance with Anderson Cooper in 2007. He eventually apologized for his comments.

The shocking surveillance footage of Diddy violently attacking his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 emerged this week.

The video, obtained by CNN, shows the rapper shirtless with a towel wrapped around his waist, chasing Cassie down the hall at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.

As she tried to get into an elevator, he grabbed her by the back of the head and slammed her to the ground.

He then kicked her as she lay on the floor motionless, before grabbing the two designer bags she’d tried to escape with.

Diddy stood over her, kicked her again, and then dragged her back to their room by the hoodie.

The 54-year-old rapper took to Instagram on Sunday morning to apologize, saying: ‘I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses.’

Looking into the camera, Diddy said: ‘So difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you got to do that. I was f***ed up.

‘I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses, my behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, I’m disgusted.

‘I was disgusted then when I did it, I am disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, I got into going to therapy, going to rehab.

‘Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I am committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.’

Sources said Diddy went to rehab following the 2016 incident and continues to seek both therapy and spiritual work.

Cassie claimed in a since-settled lawsuit that Diddy had paid the same hotel $50,000 for the footage after the attack.

Speaking on Sunday, Cassie’s attorney Meredith Firetog, said: ‘Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt.

‘When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday.

‘That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.’

Diddy’s followers were not convinced by his apology, flooding the comments under his video with angry messages.

One said: ‘You swore you did nothing wrong. You gaslighted her and all of us, and ONLY now that the video came out, you’re sorry. Bro, go away.’

Another added: ‘If you were truly sorry then and now why were you lying all along? Your chance for redemption was a long time ago Diddler. It’s over now.’

It comes after the LA County District Attorney said they would not be able to prosecute Diddy for the assault as the statute of limitations had passed.

California’s statute of limitations for simple assault is one year, though aggravated assault is three years. Based on the timeline, neither charge could be levied against Diddy.

The footage of the March 2016 incident comes just two months after Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles were raided by Homeland Security as part of a sex trafficking investigation.

He is also fighting lawsuits from other accusers who allege sexual misconduct and abuse.

Combs’ sons, Justin and Christian ‘King’ Combs, were handcuffed during the raid at their father’s residence in Los Angeles.

In February, a music producer filed a lawsuit alleging Combs coerced him to solicit prostitutes and pressured him to have sex with them.

Another of Combs’ accusers was a woman who said the rap producer raped her two decades ago when she was 17.

Combs and his attorneys have denied all of the lawsuits’ allegations.
