The Arab League and Bahrain discuss arrangements for holding the Council of Arab Information Ministers in Manama

Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, discussed with the Bahraini Minister of Information Affairs, Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, the arrangements related to the Bahraini capital, Manama, hosting the (54th) session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers during the period from 27 to 29 This May.

 

The holding of this session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers comes directly after the recent Arab summit in Manama, which resulted in decisions concerning various strategic, political and developmental issues of the Arab region.

 

A statement by the Arab League stated, today, Tuesday, that the meeting between Ambassador Khattabi and the Bahraini Minister, which was held via video technology, discussed ways to strengthen Arab cooperation mechanisms, including in terms of continuing to provide support. During the meeting, the draft agenda approved by the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers during its (18) session was reviewed. On December 24, 2023 in the State of Libya, which includes a group of items related to developing and enriching the Arab media system in its comprehensiveness and diversity based on the projects proposed, including the implementation of the Arab media strategy to combat terrorism approved by the Bahrain Summit, as well as other topics, including in particular the media map for sustainable development 2030. Environmental media, educational media, enhancing the status of women in the media, encouraging capacity development through applications of artificial intelligence, and the proposal of the General Secretariat of the Arab League regarding the development of the Arab media code of honor by including the electoral dimension, especially the use of media in electoral campaigns, respecting the rules of pluralism, transparency and neutrality, and preventing defamation on the basis of an approach Gender, race, color, or language, in order to make the aforementioned charter more appropriate to the effective role of the media and communication networks during electoral elections.

 

It will take place during the (54th) session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers. Discussing organizational matters and the agenda of the Council’s meetings and its structures. On the topic “Crisis, disaster and risk information” With the contribution of more than 100 works, it was presented to a special committee of member states headed by Kuwait, the sponsoring country of the award, which bears the name of the Arab League and has great symbolism.
