Develop a diet to prolong life

Gerontologists from the University of Southern California have developed a diet that allows you to double your life.

Scientists have analyzed several hundred studies on nutrition, its relationship to disease and life expectancy, and the health effects of various diets, from the keto diet to plant-based foods to fasting.

The main features of the diet that could provide the longest life were a moderate or high intake of complex carbohydrates, a low but sufficient amount of protein, especially vegetables, and an adequate amount of vegetable fat, which covers about 30% of the energy requirement.

All meals should ideally be eaten between 11 and 12 hours, and a diet cycle that mimics a five-day fasting (750-1000 calories, no animal protein, and minimal vegetable protein) can reduce people’s insulin resistance and blood pressure. those at greater risk. .

The researchers describe the ideal diet: “Lots of legumes, whole grains, and vegetables; some fish; no red or processed meat and very little white meat; little sugar and refined grains; plenty of nuts and olive oil, as well as some dark chocolate.”

However, it should be borne in mind that dietary modifications may be required – for example, people over 65 years of age need to eat more protein to compensate for the age-related loss of muscle mass.

Researchers always recommend consulting your doctor before making any changes to your diet.
