Avril Lavigne and Derek Smith celebrate their wedding in Malibu
Canadian singer Avril Lavigne, 37, is preparing for the wedding with 35-year-old American rapper Derek Smith, who is performing under the pseudonym Mod Sun.
After nearly three weeks of courtship (the musician proposed to her over the weekend in Paris and gave her a ring with a large cut diamond in the shape of a heart), the lovers threw a pre-wedding party.
The celebration was organized by famous wedding director Mindy Weiss. Avril and Derek have invited some of their closest friends to their Malibu home.
The party was decorated in white and pink (including a three-tier cake with figurines of lovers). The bride and groom wore matching suits.
She told Lavigne the story behind the engagement ring: “He knew from the start that I wanted a heart-shaped diamond, because the day we met, we’d been wearing matching rings with heart-shaped stones. Since then we’ve been wearing them every day. So it’s totally fitting that you have Heart shaped engagement ring. Love it.”
For 37-year-old Avril Lavigne, this marriage will be the third. Previously, she had an official relationship with Sum 41 vocalist Derick Whibley, and then with Nickelback vocalist and guitarist Chad Krueger.
Earlier it became known that the 19-year-old son of Victoria and David Beckham is planning to marry a model.
