Tobey Maguire, star of Spider-Man plays Charlie Chaplin

Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire will play legendary silent actor Charlie Chaplin in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, a drama about the golden age of Hollywood.

As conceived by the director, the film will tell about the show business of the roaring twenties, in particular, about the transition from silent cinema to the creation of the first sound and film films.

In addition to Maguire, the cast includes Brad Pitt as famous actors John Gilbert and Margot Robbie, who will embody the sex symbol of the era, Clara Bow. The film also stars Olivia Wilde and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Michael “Flea” Balzari.

Babylon will premiere on December 25, 2022.
