US tests centrifugal cannon to launch satellites into space

SpinLaunch has tested a prototype centrifuge for launching vehicles into space. The test video was posted on the company’s YouTube channel.

Launching satellites with conventional missiles is very expensive. In this regard, many engineers are looking for alternative methods: for example, launching miniature rockets from high-flying aircraft.

One of these alternative methods is being developed by SpinLaunch.
According to its concept, the device rotates in a centrifuge with a gravitational acceleration of up to 10 thousand grams, after which it is released, and then flies into the tube.

The company has now completed its eighth flight test. A camera was installed on the test machine, which made it possible to see what the launch looked like “from the inside”.
