Karam Gabr: New horizons for media cooperation between Egypt and Jordan

 The head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, journalist and writer, Karam Jabr, confirmed that the cooperation protocol that was signed with Dr. Muhannad Al-Mubaideen, Minister of Government Communications in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the presence of the prime ministers of the two countries, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, and Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, aims to Opening new horizons for media cooperation, to reflect the historical and good relations between the leaders of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

Jabr added – in a statement today – that the protocol will work to shed light on the joint projects taking place between the two countries, adding that the protocol includes cooperation in All areas of media, including new media, electronic games, children’s media, exchanging experiences, and enhancing media cooperation and joint production. The protocol aims to joint cooperation in the field of new media by working to enhance cooperation in the field of modern technologies by holding joint meetings between the two countries during which the two countries’ experience in dealing with combating rumors and misleading information, and confronting the spread of what conflicts with the nation’s values, is discussed. Arabic and Islamic, as well as cooperation in the field of providing research and studies related to the prospects for regulating electronic media to be studied, while supporting conferences, seminars and workshops that deal with everything related to the risks of electronic media, and working to develop future plans to confront the challenges of the technological revolution, and investing in the experiences of influential youth on licensed websites. To create a mutual dialogue between traditional media and new media, which greatly influences public opinion. Representatives from both sides are assigned to communicate to work on laying the necessary foundations for implementing the protocol. He presented the latest media and legislative work related to media work, as well as working to disseminate the concepts of media and information literacy and the necessity of benefiting from the experiences that began in this context, and building on them with the aim of limiting the spread of rumors and avoiding professional and ethical transgressions in information and news published through modern communication tools.< /p>

The protocol also aims to cooperate in the field of electronic games, through exchanging legislative experiences related to the subject of what is recorded on visual and audio materials, benefiting from the legislative experiences of the two countries in this regard, and holding joint meetings to exchange experiences in various fields of media. Assigning representatives from both sides to exchange legislation regulating media work between the two countries.

Cooperation in the field of children’s media will also take place through exchanging legislative experiences related to instructions for children’s programs, and organizing joint awareness-raising training programs to work on eradicating media and technical literacy among people. Parents, youth and children in the field of protection and follow-up systems, and benefiting from what the Supreme Council for Media Regulation has done in this regard, as well as exchanging studies and research related to the role of media legislation in protecting children from bad media messages. The protocol aims to exchange experiences and enhance media cooperation by developing common visions to work on confronting the challenges that impose themselves on the Arab media, and coordinating with all parties to provide information and data that serve the media plans of the two countries, provided that a committee is formed to discuss common media issues between the two countries, as well. Inviting journalists and leaders of the media work in Jordan to visit Egypt and meet with their colleagues in the press, radio and television media institutions to learn closely about the developments witnessed by the Egyptian media work within the framework of the new and comprehensive renaissance, and to discuss how to benefit from the advanced media and communication experiences in both countries, and to encourage a regular exchange of visits. Experts, media professionals, journalists, and official media delegations from each party to learn about the experiences and expertise of the other party, with the aim of strengthening professional ties between the two parties.

The protocol requires cooperation in the field of joint production through cooperation in the field of licensing production institutions and companies, and exchanging legislative experience. Between jurists working in this field to benefit from the legislation regulating this work in both countries, as well as cooperation between the two countries in providing joint studies that guarantee the media content that is produced and the negative implications it carries that must be reduced. It is noteworthy that the protocol signing ceremony took place during the 32nd session of the Joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee.
