Dhiab bin Muhammad witnesses a lecture "A more comprehensive vision of the reality of sustainable agriculture" Organized by the Mohammed bin Zayed Council

ABU DHABI, 17th May / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, witnessed a lecture entitled “A More Comprehensive Vision of the Reality of Sustainable Agriculture,” which was organized by the Mohammed bin Zayed Council as part of its series of lectures and delivered by Sebastien Bouyer, co-founder and Chairman of the Council. Managing the “FarmWise” company, which specializes in manufacturing precision agricultural machines based on artificial intelligence and robotics to increase agricultural productivity.
The lecturer highlighted the most prominent challenges facing the agricultural sector and the pivotal role of technological innovations in strengthening this sector and contributing to its development and sustainability in order to meet the food needs of the constantly growing world population.
He said that agriculture is based on the availability of four main resources: land, water, labor, and artificially produced fertilizers. He pointed out that a number of emerging companies are using the latest technologies to reduce dependence on these resources.
Regarding the use of the latest modern agricultural technologies, the lecturer explained that many of these innovations are still expensive or require further development to make their effectiveness commensurate with the cost, which makes farmers reluctant to abandon their old methods.
He stressed the role of society in supporting the widespread adoption of modern agricultural technologies, pointing to the need to enhance demand for technology by enhancing demand for sustainability.
During the lecture, the dialogue was moderated by Laila Abdul Latif, Director General of the Emirates Nature-WWF – in cooperation with the World Wide Fund for Nature, where she began by showing a video clip highlighting the country’s efforts in sustainable agriculture. Khalid Al-Balushi, principal engineer for agricultural development at the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, and Maitha Al-Hamli, president of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, participated in the lecture. Marine Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation Department at the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, and Skye Kurtz, founder and CEO of Pure Harvest, a smart agriculture company.
The UAE gives priority to developing its agricultural sector, as it aims to enhance its food security while ensuring a sustainable and promising future, in addition to being the headquarters of a growing number of agricultural technology companies that use innovative technology to produce locally grown food.
