International Monetary Fund warns of new shocks awaiting the global economy

Gita Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said the turmoil in the global economy is far from over.

First of all, economic difficulties are associated with the continuation of the coronavirus pandemic, the events in Ukraine and the slowdown in economic growth in China.

According to Gopinath, in the context of the situation around Ukraine, there are differences in the economic impact experienced by the countries. In particular, she referred to the sharp rise in the prices of commodities, oil, gas and food.

The representative of the International Monetary Fund concluded that if we pay attention to the outlook for the situation in the world, they mostly speak in favor of the deterioration. ”

“In some parts of the world…there is a very serious situation in terms of food insecurity. I will just add that it is not over yet. The turmoil is not over”.
