The comedian welcomes homeless people into her home, “obviously”

Comedian and actress, Doully has not always had a rosy life. And, the one who left the family nest at the age of 14, does not hesitate to reach out to those in need herself.

Doully doesn’t hide it: before humor and the stage, she lived a thousand lives. And not the most shiny. The comedian has experienced addictions, serious health problems, withdrawal… She has even been close to the streets. And for good reason, she hosted homeless people in her small Parisian apartment for several months.

Doully lived alone in an apartment at age 14

At the age of 14, Doully left her parents’ 30m2 apartment near Notre-Dame in Paris to set up on her own. The family cocoon had become too small and her parents, very open-minded, trusted her enough for her to move in alone not far from their home. But very quickly, things changed for the young woman: addictions, parties, bad encounters…

And she doesn’t hide it: “I had an adult life while going to class. I arrived from a nightclub, still drunk with my heels in my bag and I asked for a paper on the right, a pen on the left”. “I had a lot of friends older than me, they lived alone. I welcomed all the local tramps into my home when I was 15 or 16. Inevitably, it was a constant party. There were 8 of us living in 25 square meters…”she added bluntly.

How did Doully end up housing homeless people in her home?

Questioned last February by Oumar Diawara about this part of his life during an interview for FranceTV Slashcomedian Doully – who writes a humorous column on France Inter – explained things very simply. “I don’t think I did it as a gesture of solidarity. I really believe it was a combination of circumstances”she first confided.

Before specifying: “It was a bit like street friends, a kind of obvious thing. It happened really naturally”. And it’s up to her to go into some detail: “The guys who lived with me were guys who live in a truck, who have a dog, who don’t see themselves in a normal job”. “I hear from them from time to time, and that always makes me happy, but they haven’t given up on this life”finally concluded the one who is on tour with her latest show to date, Yesterday I stop. Few people take the same approach as her when faced with people in extreme precariousness.
