Ligue 1: three Marseille players targeted by shots while they were driving, the perpetrators of the attack flee

After the home-jackings, footballers targeted by a violent car-jacking attempt. Three players from Olympique de Marseille, who were each driving in their car in the 11th arrondissement of the city, were targeted by shots during the night from Sunday to Monday, the Marseille prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday May 21 on Radio France. The prosecution opened a blatant investigation for “attempted homicides”, entrusted to specialized investigators from the Bouches-du-Rhône police.

The events occurred on the night following the last match of the Ligue 1 season, while Faris Moumbagna and Jean Onana were leaving the OM training center – the name of the third player has not been revealed . The striker and the midfielder were preparing to return home after returning from Le Havre, where they had participated in the victory of the Phocéens against the Normans (2-1) as part of the 34th and final day of the championship of France. OM finished this year in a disappointing 8th place and will be deprived of European competition next year.

Neither Faris Moumbagna nor Jean Onana were injured but several bullet holes were found on their vehicles, which were not stolen. The perpetrators of the attack have still not been found.
