Hegazy meets with the UK Minister of State for Schools to enhance cooperation in international public schools

Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with Damian Hinds, Minister of State for Schools in the United Kingdom, as part of a series he is holding on the sidelines of the activities of the World Education Forum 2024 in London.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education, appreciated the various areas of cooperation with the United Kingdom, which are based on solid foundations of understanding and trust, and the support it provides to develop and advance the educational process in Egypt, especially with regard to the needs necessary for teaching the English language, and activities. Capacity building to develop teachers’ language skills and ensure quality transfer of training to others"LTR">.

 

Dr. Reda Hegazy emphasized the efforts of the Egyptian state in developing education, which aim to improve the educational experiences of our students in a positive way through the new education system, in cooperation with a number of partners, by introducing new curricula and developing both teaching tools and educational methods< /span>.

 

Dr. Reda Hegazy reviewed the existing areas of cooperation between the two countries, noting that there is a national teacher training program that is conducted in cooperation with the British Council, and aims to build capabilities and improve classroom practices for English language teachers, as well as mathematics and science teachers, with a special focus on digital transformation, Pointing out that more than 22,000 English language, mathematics and science teacher in 27 Governorate.

 

The Minister added that the external evaluation of the program resulted in positive changes in teaching practices, English language skills, and attitudes toward professional development.

 

The Minister also stressed that the Egyptian Ministry of Education is cooperating with the British Council to enrich the quality of education in schools and prepare students to live and work in a manner characterized by success and knowledge of capabilities that are commensurate with international standards, as all over the world British education is concerned with quality and excellence .

 

The Minister also touched on the cooperation of the Egyptian Ministry of Education with the British Council  in implementing  New English Language Training Program (Teach. Engage. Aspire) For Egyptian teachers, which aims to build the capabilities of the English language sector in Egypt by developing the English language skills of teachers and teacher trainers, increasing their awareness of global and environmental issues and enabling them to include best practices in their teaching with the aim of supporting the education system in Egypt.

 

Dr. Reda Hegazy also reviewed the experience of international public schools, noting that they provide an international educational model based on curricula designed in accordance with the latest international systems, stressing that these schools have won the trust of Egyptian society, and this is reflected in the great demand for them.

 

The Minister explained that international public schools (IPS) It works to raise the level of education in Egypt as a step to keep pace with global developments, as these schools support the (British system) and also provide the opportunity for parents who wish to teach their children an international education at reasonable expenses, stressing that the Ministry seeks to expand these schools throughout the Republic during The coming period.

 

For his part, Damian Hinds, Minister of State for Schools in the United Kingdom, stressed that education is a very important point in the history of relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom, welcoming the strengthening of cooperation frameworks and the exchange of experiences between the two countries in the field of pre-university education.

 

He added that there are government schools similar to Egyptian international schools in Britain, run by  Highly qualified people with experience in managing it"LTR">.

 

The meeting witnessed a discussion of ways to enhance cooperation mechanisms in educational services provided in international public schools during the coming period.
