The United States announced sanctions against three more Russian structures

The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed sanctions against a Russian citizen and three Russian companies that allegedly tried to circumvent previous US restrictions.

We are talking about a scheme in which an attempt was made to unfreeze more than $1.5 billion belonging to Russian metals magnate Oleg Deripaska, notes “Voice of America”.

The restrictions included Russian Dmitry Beloglazov, as well as the companies Iliadis, Rasperia Trading Limited and Titul.

The American Ministry of Finance stated that in June 2023, Deripaska coordinated his actions with Beloglazov, the owner of Title, in connection with the planned transaction for the sale of Deripaska’s frozen shares in one of the European companies.

Agency Reuters notes that Washington’s new decision on sanctions concerns the recently canceled application of the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank International to purchase a stake in the Strabag construction concern.

  • Oleg Deripaska came under American sanctions in April 2018. Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand and the UK also introduced measures against it. This year, Forbes estimated the businessman’s fortune at $2.8 billion.
