Erdogan says the Greek prime minister no longer exists for him

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis “no longer exists” for him, accusing the Greek leader of trying to block the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey during his visit to the United States.

“He no longer exists for me, I will not agree to meet him. We will continue our path with respected politicians,” Erdogan said in a press conference after the weekly cabinet meeting.

According to Erdogan, he and Mitsotakis previously agreed not to involve third countries in the dispute over the supply of combat aircraft.

Despite that, last week he was on a visit to the United States, he spoke to Congress and warned them against supplying us with F-16s,” Erdogan said.

In October, Turkey asked the United States to purchase 40 Lockheed Martin F-16 fighter jets and nearly 80 components to modernize Turkish military aircraft.

Washington previously excluded Ankara from the joint F-35 fighter program after Turkey purchased Russian S-400 missile defense systems.
