The launch of the 33rd Arab Summit in Manama
Manama, May 16 / WAM / The 33rd session of the regular Arab summit “Bahrain Summit” began today, Thursday, at Sakhir Palace in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The work of the League of Arab States Council at the summit level in its thirty-third session is chaired by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the sister Kingdom of Bahrain, as the Kingdom of Bahrain assumes the presidency of the summit from the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The summit began with the opening session – which included the speech of the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the former presidency of the summit and the handing over of the presidency to the Kingdom of Bahrain, then the speech of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the speech of His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, followed by the speeches of the Arab leaders and guests of the summit.
After that, the summit’s working session is held in which the draft agenda, draft resolutions, and the draft “Bahrain Declaration” are approved. At the end of the summit, the final session is held, which witnesses the reading of the “Bahrain Declaration” and the final speech by His Majesty the King of Bahrain.
A press conference will be held after the conclusion of the summit, attended by the Bahraini Foreign Minister and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, with the participation of Their Majesties, Excellencies and Highnesses, leaders of Arab countries or their representatives.
