Ahmed bin Mohammed praises the efforts of the committees, work teams and volunteers in "The first Gulf Games for Youth"

DUBAI, 2nd May / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, President of the National Olympic Committee and President of the First Gulf Youth Games, affirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “save… “May God protect him,” and with the follow-up of his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” you will remain a major supporter of the Gulf sports renaissance, and a strong support for the process of sports development in the region, while giving young people the full opportunity to prove their worth. Leading this journey and contributing to moving it forward towards new levels of excellence is a strategic goal to which the UAE gives all attention, support and encouragement.
This came on the occasion of the conclusion of the first edition of the tournament, which was hosted by the Emirates during the period from April 16 to May 2, with the participation of 3,500 male and female athletes who competed in 24 individual and team sports through 41 different competitions and 300 volunteers, in light of great interest through various local and Gulf media outlets that were keen to Coverage of its competitions.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the dream of young athletes in the Gulf countries began in the Emirates with a promising sporting experience, after this group demonstrated its worth in establishing a large base of talents that, with their passion and ambition, represent strong foundations for the Olympic movement sector, to provide, with their dedication and tireless endeavor, an honorable model for establishing… The concepts of sports, fair play, and participation aimed at achieving the best sporting levels with the will of champions.
His Highness praised the role of the brothers in the Gulf Olympic Committees who supported the idea. He said: “We are proud of the gains achieved by the Gulf Youth Tournament and the harmony it demonstrated among all the participants who showed the sportsmanship in all competitions. We thank the various work teams that persevered to make the delegations’ task easier.” We also thank the groups of volunteers in the various locations of the tournament, and the combined efforts of all these efforts had a great impact in presenting it in its first edition in an image that befits the status of the UAE and serves the goal for which it was launched.”

His Highness, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, praised the level of distinguished Gulf participation and the high performance witnessed in the competitions of this session, which culminated in medals and distinguished numbers, which confirms the success of the event in achieving its goals, especially with regard to revealing the talented elements that are an essential tributary to the path of all sports, whether individual or team.
His Highness said: “We are pleased with the success of the first Gulf sporting event of its kind, which was held in an exemplary atmosphere with a high sporting spirit that was dominated by affection and brotherhood among all participants. We congratulate the winners of the coronation… and we hope to build on the results of this tournament to achieve a real breakthrough in the future of Gulf sports.”

His Highness stressed that the success of the first Gulf Youth Games is an incentive to make more efforts in its upcoming sessions, to consolidate its position as an event that has its place and impact on the sports map, whether regional or international, and a new addition that confirms the excellence of the UAE in organizing and hosting various major tournaments and forums, thus strengthening its position as a sports destination. It is highly prepared, with its capabilities, facilities, and installations of the highest degree of efficiency and excellence.
The competitions of the first Gulf Youth Games were held in five of the country’s emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah, under the slogan: “Our Gulf is one…our youth is promising.”

The UAE strengthened its position in the lead at the end of the tournament with 296 medals, including 96 gold, 103 silver, and 97 bronze. Saudi Arabia came in second place with 149 medals, including 58 gold, 57 silver, and 34 bronze. Kuwait retained third place with 126 medals, including 35 gold, 45 silver and 46 bronze. Qatar came in fourth place with 81 medals, including 31 gold, 22 silver and 28 bronze. Bahrain came in fifth place with 77 medals, 25 gold, 20 silver and 32 bronze, and then the Sultanate of Oman came in sixth place with 63 medals, including 21 gold, 14 silver, and 28 bronze.
The tournament’s competitions included 24 various individual and group sports: football, swimming, judo, boxing, cycling, “track” competition, sailing, jiu-jitsu, golf, volleyball, athletics, table tennis, e-sports, athletics for people of determination, and billiards. Handball, basketball (3×3), karate, chess, equestrian show jumping, bow and arrow, triathlon, fencing, badminton, and taekwondo.
