A correctional colony employee died in an explosion in Berdyansk

In Russian-controlled Berdyansk in the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine, a correctional colony employee was killed in a car bombing on Sunday. About it reported Russian Investigative Committee.

As the department said in a statement, the explosion is being investigated under the article of murder by a generally dangerous method. According to investigators, an explosive device planted by unknown persons under the car went off. Other details, including the name of the deceased and his position, were not provided.

Ukrainian military intelligence GUR assertsthat on Sunday morning in Berdyansk a Ford Kuga car, which belonged to Evgeniy Ananyevsky, exploded. Presumably, it was he who was killed. The GUR calls him “one of the organizers of torture” in correctional colony No. 77 in Berdyansk. Ukrainian military intelligence claims that he was involved, among other things, in the torture of Ukrainian prisoners. The GUR does not directly take responsibility for the murder of Ananyevsky, but writes that he was “liquidated.”

As Mediazona writes, employees of the Berdyansk colony accused in torture and extortion of money from prisoners and before the start of the war, when the city was under the control of Ukraine. In 2023, its former leaders were arrested in Ukraine.

After the occupation of the city by Russia in February 2022, according to the Ukrainian authorities, local residents who opposed the Russian military began to be kept in the colony. Berdyansk MP Viktor Dudukalov claimed that they were subjected to torture there: “Putin’s portraits hang in the cells, the Russian anthem must be sung twice or thrice a day, otherwise they will beat you.”
