Egypt begins discussions with the IMF to obtain $1.2 billion to support environmental policies

Cairo, May 18 / WAM / Egypt has begun discussions with the International Monetary Fund regarding the possibility of obtaining one billion and 200 million dollars within the Fund’s support packages for the environmental sector and future cooperation mechanisms in the field of supporting its environmental and climate policies.

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Egyptian Minister of the Environment, during a meeting she held with Ivana Veldkova Hollar, head of the Fund’s mission, and her representatives at the Ministry of the Environment’s headquarters in the Administrative Capital, discussed issues of skills development and university curricula development within skills development activities in the first component of the “Air Pollution and Climate Change Management in Greater Cairo” project, which is related to strengthening the support system.
