Kuwait’s inflation rate rises to 3.17% in April

The food and non-alcoholic beverages category witnessed a significant increase by 5.79%, while cigarette and tobacco prices increased by 0.22%. The prices of clothing and shoes also witnessed a noticeable increase by 5.95%, and the housing services group also increased by 1.41%.

Inflation, defined as rising prices for goods and services, can be classified into four main types based on how quickly prices rise. In addition, there are specific forms such as asset inflation and wage inflation. Economists often classify demand-driven inflation and cost-driven inflation as two separate categories, along with inflation driven by an increase in the money supply.

Despite the announced numbers, some experts believe that the inflation index in Kuwait does not fully reflect the true extent of inflation in the country.
