7 candidates are competing in the Mauritanian presidential elections

Nouakchott, May 21 / WAM / The Constitutional Council of Mauritania announced the final list of candidates for the presidential elections, the first round of which is scheduled to be held on June 29, while a second round will be held, if necessary, on July 14, 2024.

The Mauritanian News Agency reported that the final list of candidates for the elections includes the current president, Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani, Mohamed Al-Amin Al-Murtaji Al-Wafi, Hammadi Sidi Al-Mukhtar, the candidate Otoma Soumare, Ba Mamadou Bockarie, Al-Eid Mohamed Mubarak, and Biram Al-Dah Abidi.

The system for running for presidential elections in Mauritania requires obtaining the support of 100 members of municipal councils, including five mayors.

Election campaigns will begin at midnight on June 14 and end at midnight on the 27th of the same month.
