Norway formally recognizes Palestine as a state. Ireland and Spain will follow
Copenhagen: Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre says Norway is formally recognizing Palestine as a state.
“There can be no peace in the Middle East if there is no recognition,” Støre said Wednesday.
He said the Scandinavian country would recognize a Palestinian state starting May 28.
Several European Union countries have indicated in recent weeks that they plan to recognize, arguing that a two-state solution is essential for lasting peace in the region.
