President’s Cup for Football… Schroeder returns victory to compete for championships
Dubai, May 2 / WAM / By defeating Shabab Al-Ahly 4-3, in the semi-final yesterday, Wednesday, at Zabeel Stadium, and qualifying for the final match of the His Highness the President of the UAE Football Cup, the Al-Nasr team continued its brilliance during the current season with its Dutch coach, Alfred Schroeder, By not losing 11 consecutive matches in all competitions, winning 9 matches and drawing 2.
Al-Nasr qualified for the final match of the Cup of His Highness the President of the State, for the 12th time in its history, to face Al-Wasl, which qualified from its victory over Ittihad Kalba, as Al-Nasr aspires to its fifth crown in the tournament, after the last title it won in 2015.
The last final of the His Highness the President of the State Cup was played by Al-Nasr in the 2021 edition, and it was lost to Shabab Al-Ahly 1-2.
The Dutchman Alfred Schroeder, the coach of the Al-Nasr team, expressed his happiness with his team’s qualification to the final match of the His Highness the President’s Cup, stressing that his team played the match well and gave everything outstanding in football despite the absence of 6 players from the team.
The coach said in statements after the match, “I am proud of what the team achieved against Shabab Al-Ahly. We played a great match and missed many opportunities.”
He added, “We trained well during the last period, which was reflected in the team’s performance and its ability to reach the final match, as we worked to avoid the mistakes that Al-Ahly youth were waiting for, and we were able to do that.”
The coach explained that his team’s scoring of the fourth goal decided the match in its favor, despite Shabab Al-Ahly scoring the third goal.
He confirmed that he will face the best team in the Emirates currently in the final match, which is Al-Wasl, pointing out that the focus will not be on the final at the present time, as the team is waiting to face Al-Wahda in the league competition.
