The Kremlin: Russia condemns the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia
The Russian presidential spokesman, the Kremlin, said: Dmitry Peskov said that his country strongly condemns the attempt to assassinate Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, and hopes that he will recover quickly.
The Russian TASS news agency on Thursday quoted Peskov as saying, “Naturally, we strongly condemn this attack and consider it unlawful.” Absolutely acceptable.. In fact, it is a great tragedy. We hope that Fico will overcome this situation and recover, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
He pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram in which he expressed his support for the Slovak Prime Minister, wishing him Get well soon.
The Prime Minister of Slovakia was injured in a shooting incident that occurred after a government meeting in the city of Handelova. In the western part of the country, he was taken to hospital in serious condition, as he sustained injuries to one of his limbs, chest and abdomen, and according to Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba, Fico is in a very serious condition.
According to the Slovak media, he was hospitalized. The shooter, Yuvraj Sintola, a 71-year-old writer who carried out the assassination attempt on Vico, was arrested. Because of his disagreement with the government’s policy.
