British police seize $50 million of cocaine hidden in crates of bananas

The UK’s National Crime Agency said police had seized a 40 million pound ($48.6 million) Colombian cocaine shipment in the Thames Port hidden in crates of bananas.

According to NCA Director of Operations Adam Perry, this finding is a huge blow to drug dealers and will prevent them from making more money to distribute more illegal substances.

The statement notes that the police seized a total of more than 500 kilograms of first-class drugs on a ship en route from Colombia to the Netherlands.

Earlier it became known that boxes of bananas were delivered to at least two Czech supermarkets in the cities of Giessen and Rechnov nad Knezhno, where they found a large consignment of cocaine.

Supermarket workers found 840 kg of cocaine in crates of bananas while checking accepted goods. The approximate cost is about 80 million euros. Presumably there was a bug that caused grocers to get the drugs.
