The UAE… exceptional efforts to support the rights of Palestinians in international forums and organizations

Abu Dhabi, May 18 / WAM / Since the outbreak of the crisis in the Gaza Strip, the UAE has led exceptional efforts in all international forums to support the Palestinian brothers and alleviate their suffering in cooperation with the various parties concerned.
The Emirati efforts are consistent with the historical constants in its foreign policy, represented by its commitment to promoting peace and justice, preserving the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and relevant agreements requiring an end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Through its communications and intense diplomatic activity at the regional and international levels, the UAE seeks to reach a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in a way that contributes to protecting the lives of all civilians and providing them with urgent humanitarian relief.

In this context, the UAE submitted a draft resolution on the eligibility of the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations during an emergency special session of the General Assembly, in its capacity as President of the Arab Group for the month of May.
The resolution received a large majority vote from the General Assembly in favor of accepting full membership of the State of Palestine, in a historic step on the path to peace and achieving the two-state solution.

On November 16, the UAE welcomed the adoption of Security Council Resolution No. 2712, which calls for a series of periods of cessation of fighting extending for several days in the Gaza Strip, sufficient for the full, urgent, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and the release of all detainees, in particular Children whom the resolution calls for should be released unconditionally.
The UAE, as the Arab member of the Council, worked closely with the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations, which drafted the resolution, providing the necessary support throughout the negotiations, in order to reach an agreement on a text that gives priority to the protection of children.
During the ministerial meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, which was held last November, the UAE condemned the “Israeli policy of collective punishment” against the Palestinian people, and expressed its rejection of attempts to displace Palestinians, stressing that the future of Gaza and its administration must remain in the hands of the Palestinian people and cannot Acceptance of any hypotheses or plans that seek to separate the Gaza Strip from the State of Palestine.
Last December, the UAE submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for humanitarian reasons, and calling on all parties to comply with their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, especially with regard to the protection of civilians, as the draft demanded. The decision to immediately and unconditionally release all hostages, and to guarantee the arrival of humanitarian aid.

The UAE stressed, during its participation in the 55th session of the Human Rights Council, held last February in Geneva, that the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip requires intensifying collective action and joint efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire, protect civilians, and accelerate the arrival of necessary humanitarian and relief aid to people. Gaza Strip in an adequate, sustainable, safe and unhindered manner.
The UAE called for the need to find a political horizon for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, on the basis of a two-state solution that leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, in order to spare the region from the expansion and continuation of confrontations and violence.

Last February, Her Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs, called before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, for commitment to the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the two-state solution.
The United Nations General Assembly had asked the International Court of Justice in December 2022 to provide an “advisory opinion” on the legal consequences arising from Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
In her capacity as head of the UAE delegation to the Court of Justice, Her Excellency stressed the importance of the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice in achieving the two-state solution, stressed Israel’s violations of its obligations during the ongoing disastrous war on the Gaza Strip, and discussed the escalating Israeli violations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, where Settlement construction and settler violence have reached unprecedented levels.
In a related context, on March 29, the UAE welcomed the additional temporary measures issued by the International Court of Justice, within the framework of examining the case of preventing genocide brought by the Republic of South Africa, which calls on Israel to allow more humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip, and to open more… A transit point for transporting food and medical supplies.
Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, said that the UAE once again appreciates the efforts of the friendly Republic of South Africa in this regard, stressing the importance of providing protection for civilians and ensuring that humanitarian and relief aid reaches the Gaza Strip in an urgent, sustainable and unhindered manner, and preventing further losses in the Gaza Strip. lives, avoiding inflaming the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, and the necessity of alleviating the catastrophic, extremely sensitive and dangerous humanitarian situation experienced by innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The UAE affirmed its support for the vital work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and its indispensable role in providing life-saving assistance in the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of the UN agency in light of the unprecedented crisis that the people of the Strip are experiencing.
Last April, the UAE welcomed the results of the report issued by the Independent Commission on the performance of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which confirmed its pivotal role in supporting relief and development efforts for the Palestinian people.
In October 2023, the UAE announced the provision of urgent aid to the Palestinian brothers in the amount of twenty million dollars through UNRWA, noting that in June of the same year it announced a similar contribution to support the agency, which is keen to provide education, health care, and social services to refugees. Palestinians.
The UAE, under the directives of its wise leadership, continues its humanitarian efforts to provide relief to the Palestinian brothers in Gaza, and launches humanitarian initiatives, including Operation “The Gallant Knight 3,” as it provided tens of thousands of tons of relief, humanitarian, food, and medical aid. It also established a field hospital in Gaza, and a floating hospital in the city of Al-Arish. Egyptian.
The UAE receives hundreds of medical cases to receive medical care and treatment in its hospitals based on the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” to treat 1,000 injured children from the Gaza Strip and 1,000 cancer patients, in addition to providing safe drinking water to the people of the Gaza Strip. Gaza Strip by establishing desalination plants that provide 1.2 million gallons per day.
