Former US President Donald Trump praised, on Wednesday, the US police’s evacuation of pro-Palestine protesters from Columbia University, directing harsh criticism at Nimat Shafiq, the university’s president.

Trump said that “watching New York police officers evacuate… The Columbia University building, which was occupied by pro-Palestinian demonstrators, is a beautiful thing to behold.”

He added during a rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin: “The police came, and in exactly two hours, it was all over. It was something Beautiful and worth seeing, it is the best in New York.”

 He continued: “I saw them climbing the stairs, they were breaking the windows and entering and this is dangerous.. They were unbelievable.”

Trump expressed his belief that Columbia University’s reputation was “severely damaged,” criticizing the university’s president, Nemat Minouche. Shafiq, and said that she “waited for a long time, and she was weak, afraid, and very bad.”

On Wednesday, the American police entered the Columbia University campus and arrested dozens of protesters, who were handcuffed and taken to buses.

The New York City Police Department told CNN that “Columbia University buildings were evacuated less than two hours after officers entered the campus,” noting that “no one was injured during the operation.”

The New York Police Department denied The use of tear gas, but a spokesman confirmed that it used flash grenades or other methods to surprise and disperse the demonstrators.

The New York Police Department added that it is still monitoring various locations of the demonstrators throughout the city.
