Vincent Lindon, odious in Cannes? “I am still asked this question…”, his attitude criticized

Vincent Lindon’s attitude caused a stir at the Cannes Film Festival. According to Télérama, the actor showed great annoyance towards the journalists…

Vincent Lindon warned us: he has a reputation for “annoying“, he admitted in an interview with Madame Figaro few months ago. And that’s not his attitude at the film’s press conference The second act at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15, which will put these rumors to rest…

Vincent Lindon: his behavior criticized in Cannes… “I missed my life”

I loved the film, yes. For what ? I don’t know“, said Vincent Lindon in a casual tone, during the press conference for Quentin Dupieux’s film, The second act, the day after its screening at the Cannes Film Festival. The behavior of the actor and some of his colleagues aroused indignation among the journalists present, as told Telerama.

However, the director of the feature film had already announced the color: “Today(…) I want to be silent. Not out of weariness or pretension, but simply because the film, very talkative, says in well-chosen words everything I want to say and already contains its own analysis in an extremely clear manner.

As the conference progressed, Vincent Lindon showed increasing annoyance with the journalists’ questions. “It’s the same question for half an hour“, insisted the actor, visibly irritated and impatient. The actor even ended up blurting: “A guy said: ‘If at 50 you don’t have this watch, you’ve wasted your life’. Me, if with everything I have done in my career I am still asked this question, I have failed my life’“.

But Claude Chirac’s ex-companion is not the only one whose attitude has caused discussion. Louis Garrel, who also stars in the film, told journalists: “It’s a priesthood to answer these questions“. As for the director of the film, Quentin Dupieux, he was even more cash: “She doesn’t listen to the answer. It’s always the same: we answer their questions and they don’t listen to us“. A real annoyance of the film team or a desire to create buzz to create curiosity?

Vincent Lindon, “a pain in the ass”? His “reputation”

Vincent Lindon is in any case accustomed to criticism of his behavior. “I know the reputation I have. It’s: ‘Vincent, phew, he’s here…’ As soon as you quibble a little, it seems insurmountable. An actor who gets involved, who is a perfectionist, is a pain in the ass“, he conceded to Madame Figaro last March, before adding: “But would you say that about a craftsman? Would you say, ‘The carpenter is too demanding with the beams’? We too, we build something, we have the right to want to do it well“.
