Jean Reno bursts into tears in C à vous, the actor very moved by…

Invited on the set of Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine to talk about his first novel, Jean Reno could not contain his tears. But what made the actor cry live?

He signs his very first novel. Jean Reno trades film sets for a pen. His book Emma published by Editions XO traces the adventures of a young woman sent to Oman who finds herself at the heart of a manhunt. A book of action and suspense, for the actor who has already dabbled with the genre in Leon, The Immortal or Bronx. A project on which he confided.

The emotion of Jean Reno live

Monday May 13, he was on the set of C to you on France 5 to talk about this crazy literary adventure. His host Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine asks him how his desire to write suddenly arose. For Jean Reno, it came naturally. “Writing was obvious, he confided. It needs to be done. When I got it 10 days ago, I almost cried.”

He pauses. “It’s like a baby I imagine?”, Nikos Aliagas tells him. Jean Reno answers him, with an open heart, his voice trembling: “I thought of my father. He would have loved it. He would have said, ‘What are you still doing?'” The actor can no longer hold back his tears. He apologizes, particularly moved. Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine reassures him. “But no, no sorry. Because, just a few years ago, you said ‘I’m going to retire’, but that’s no longer a question!”, she tells him. The 75-year-old actor then reveals that he has a few projects in preparation.

Jean Reno: “I will miss my parents all my life”

The actor, based in the town of Baux-de-Provence, spends happy days in the village in the north of Bouches-du-Rhône, where he is notably a municipal councilor. Jean Reno, married to Zofia Borucka and father of Cielo (born in 2009), also lives a large part of the year in New York. It’s obvious that I miss him and my mother. I will miss them all my life.”he had already confided in The unexpected parenthesis, on France 2, in 2014.

He has a special relationship with his father. When he decided at a young age to become an actor, he was not supportive. “I can’t talk to my father about it, he’ll say shut up. For him, it was difficult to deal with the people we saw on TV. These people couldn’t be part of his family. Not his son.. . I guess he devalued me. I don’t think he could give me that importance..”

Originally from Spain, his parents had fled their country under the Franco regime to go to Casablanca, Morocco. It was there that Juan Moreno was born in 1948 – he took a French first and last name to fit in. Despite his father’s skepticism, his life will be crowned by his success on the big screen.
