Iran will hold presidential elections on June 28

Tehran, May 21 / WAM / Iran announced that it will hold presidential elections on June 28, following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash, according to what was reported by official media.

Iranian state television confirmed that the date of the elections had been approved during a meeting of the heads of the judiciary, government and parliament, and said that according to the initial agreement of the Guardian Council, it was decided to hold the fourteenth presidential elections on June 28.

The spokesman for the Iranian elections rapporteur said that July 8 has been proposed to hold the 14th state elections for the Iranian presidency, and accordingly, the date for registering candidates will be next June 8.

Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber assumed the presidency temporarily in accordance with the constitution, which stipulates the election of a new president within 50 days.
