Actor Gerard Depardieu was detained in Paris on charges of harassment

French actor Gerard Depardieu detained today, April 29, in the morning in Paris for questioning on two charges of sexualized violence.

One of the complainants accused Depardieu of unwanted touching and inappropriate words on the set of a film in 2014, where she worked as an assistant. She was 24 years old then.

Another, a 53-year-old production designer, spoke about harassment on the set of a film in 2021. According to her, the actor grabbed her in the corridor, squeezed her between her legs and, touching her waist, chest and buttocks, told her where he was going to “put his big umbrella.” The applicant claims that Depardieu released her only after outside intervention.

Then the film crew asked the actor to apologize. “I apologize because I need to apologize,” the victim reports his words. She claims that until the end of filming, Depardieu called her a whore.

Since 2020, the actor has been under investigation for rape and harassment of actress Charlotte Arnoux. She toldthat the actor raped her twice in 2018, when she was 22 years old and suffering from anorexia. In total, more than 15 charges of sexualized violence have been brought against the actor. In December 2023 came out documentary film “The Fall of the Cannibal” about Depardieu’s harassment.

The actor’s lawyers did not respond to AFP requests. Depardieu himself denies the accusations. Last year he wrote an open letter in which he said he had “never, ever” abused women.
