Abdullah bin Zayed meets with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs

Abu Dhabi, May 21 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met this evening at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Martin Griffiths, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

During the meeting, prospects for cooperation and partnership between the UAE and the United Nations and its various organizations and programs were discussed, especially at the humanitarian level.

The two sides’ talks touched on a number of regional and international issues of common interest and serious developments in the Middle East region.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed the UAE’s support for all international efforts made in cooperation with the international community to provide adequate and sustainable humanitarian support to civilians in the Gaza Strip in a way that contributes to alleviating their suffering.

His Highness pointed out the UAE’s keenness to work with the United Nations to support efforts to respond to the urgent humanitarian repercussions in the region and the world and contribute to maintaining regional and international peace and security, stressing at the same time the need to intensify efforts to end extremism, tension and escalating violence in the Middle East region and reach a sustainable cessation. To open fire and ensure the security and safety of all civilians.

The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs.
