Prince William forges growing bond with Queen Camilla as Kate Middleton and King Charles battle cancer diagnoses

Prince William has forged an ‘unlikely ally’ with Queen Camilla amid the Royal Family’s health crises, according to an expert, reports the Mirror.

Two of The Firm’s senior members – the King, 75, and Princess of Wales, 42, are being treated for cancer. During their treatment, they have been forced to strip down their royal duties and step out of the spotlight.

Since he announced his condition, Queen Camilla and upped her number of official duties – filling in for Charles at 13 royal engagements – while the King continues appropriate work from home.

Meanwhile, Prince William, 41, has faced a number of solo engagement all under the glaze of social media, including a number in internet sleuths coming up with ‘theories’ as the Kate’s whereabouts.

During this difficult time, according to royal expert Jennie Bond, William and Camilla have forged an unexpected bond.

Jennie also told OK! magazine that she had noticed changes in William and Camilla’s relationship since before Kate release her video statement announcing that she is receiving preventative chemotherapy.

She said: Recent events have obviously brought William and Camilla much closer. They have been left, almost literally, nursing the Crown while the King and the Princess recover.

‘Their teams will be working more closely to coordinate diaries and cover the engagements that has been planned, and Camilla and William are bound to have been in much closer regular contact.’

Meanwhile, a royal source told the Sunday Times of Queen Camilla: ‘Although she was not expecting to find herself in the position of leading the family, the Queen is absolutely prepared to do whatever needs to be done for the institution.

‘She has found reserves of energy that even she didn’t think she had, and the estimation of her by those inside the palace has soared as she has put her shoulder to the wheel.’

Just yesterday Kate announced in a video in Instagram that cancerous cells were discovered, while she was undergoing surgery for a different condition in January.

She explained that she had not spoken out about it earlier because she wanted to have time to ‘explain everything’ to George, Charlotte and Louis and assure them ‘I’m going to be ok’.

A Palace spokesperson said: ‘We will not be sharing any further private medical information. The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do.’

Currently the specific type of cancer Kate has is unknown, but she did tell us in her video message last night that the cancer was discovered after her abdominal surgery in January.

She said: ‘The surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found that cancer had been present.

‘As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.’

Lawrence Young, professor of molecular oncology at the University of Warwick, has said that contracting the disease when you are young like Kate, 42, means that your survival chance is higher.

He added that because Kate’s cancer was found by chance, while undergoing surgery for another condition it is likely to be in the early stages.
