Lady Violet Manners and her sister Alice praise Kate Middleton for showing ‘strength beyond strength’ – after Princess revealed cancer diagnosis

Lady Violet and Lady Alice Manners have praised the Princess of Wales for showing ‘strength beyond strength’ – after she candidly revealed her cancer diagnosis in a video on Friday.

The socialites, who are both daughters of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, took to their Instagram Stories to share reels of Kate Middleton’s moving announcement.

Violet, 30, reposted a reel from British entrepreneur Daniel Daggers that wished the royal a ‘speedy recovery’ and urged the public ‘to please support people rather than judge them’.

‘Yes,’ she added in her own caption. Meanwhile, her sister Alice, 28, posted three white hearts along with the words ‘strength, beyond strength’ in a Story sharing the Princess’s clip.

Speaking from a bench surrounded by daffodils and spring blossom, the future queen said: ‘It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.

‘As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.

‘Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.’

The Duchess of Rutland lives in a separate wing of The Crown’s Belvoir Castle from her estranged husband, the Duke of Rutland. She has since found love again and is in a long-term relationship with the castle estate’s manager Phil Burtt.

She and her daughter Violet are the brains behind a podcast called Duchess, which explores the heritage of Great Britain and Ireland. Violet – who has in past admitted that Kate would be a ‘dream’ guest on the show – came up with the idea while studying in Los Angeles and becoming nostalgic for England.

In the summer, Violet told Fox News that the Princess of Wales ‘is a real hero of hers’.

‘I think the work that she and the Prince of Wales do for all the charities that they are involved with is extraordinary. We’re very lucky to have them in this country,’ she said.

‘I think they’re remarkable in truth. They work incredibly hard for the charities and organizations that they are involved with.

‘There’s a serenity with the work that they do that’s so admirable.’

Catherine’s cancer was discovered only after she underwent major abdominal surgery at The London Clinic in January.

Kensington Palace has said it will not be sharing details of what kind of cancer the princess has, or what stage of cancer it is and has asked people not to speculate.

The King – who is also currently undergoing cancer treatment himself – and the Queen were both been informed of the news.

In a statement tonight His Majesty said he is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’ and remains in the ‘closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law’.

The King and Queen said they ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time’. 

Charles was left ‘feeling very emotional’ after having a private lunch with Kate the day before she courageously revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world. 

The 75-year-old monarch travelled from London to Windsor Castle on Thursday for a heart-to-heart with his ‘beloved’ daughter-in-law. 

It is believed Kate wanted to confide in Charles about how he was coping in his own fight against the disease, reported The Sun. 

The Princess of Wales also discussed her emotional video where she sat on a park bench and told the nation about her ‘huge shock’ at discovering she had cancer. 

The intimate sit-down lunch between the pair cements further the strong bond Kate and Charles share with the King lovingly describing the Princess as his ‘beloved daughter in-law’. 

Months earlier, Charles had donned his dressing robe and ‘toddled’ over to comfort Princess Kate as they both recovered from surgery at the London Clinic. 

A source said Charles and Kate would have had a lot to discuss during the Windsor Castle lunch with the King only weeks earlier starting his course of treatment. 

‘The King left his lunch feeling very emotional,’ they said. 

‘They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter.

‘There is no doubt there is a lot they can share and can use each other for support during their own deeply personal cancer battles.’

Meanwhile, insiders told the Sunday Times that King Charles, who was treated for an enlarged prostate, was seen ‘toddling’ from his hospital bed, to see Kate along the corridor.

At the time, the Princess had undergone major abdominal surgery – not thought to be for a malign condition – but post-operative tests found signs of cancer.

The idea of the sprightly King comforting his daughter-in-law – as they both dealt with major health curveballs – will warm the hearts of millions across the nation.

Kate and Charles have taken comfort in one another with the pair both battling cancer at the same time, one well-placed source told The Telegraph. 

‘They can both empathise with what the other is going through, which does help at a difficult time like this,’ they said.
