‘Just so that everyone knows. She’s fine. She’s well. But she didn’t just ring up with a headache. She went down.’

Hines has been a Type-1 diabetic for almost 40 years.

‘Before I was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes, my health and my body felt brilliant, but I wasn’t eating properly,’ she told Now To Love in 2017.

‘I was skipping meals. There’d be days when I didn’t eat. I was losing oodles of weight. I was thirsty all the time, and, without being vulgar, I was peeing like a pregnant woman!’

Hines was diagnosed after a dental procedure refused to heal.

‘I wasn’t sick, but I had a procedure done on one of my teeth and it just wouldn’t heal – it just kept throbbing for days’ she said.

‘I went to the doctor and that was when I was diagnosed with diabetes.’

Hines said she manages her condition with insulin injections and insists, ‘I could have a lot worse things than just diabetes.’
