Revealed: How the Premier League table would look without injury time with one team five points clear in the title race and Chelsea even lower

The subject of injury time has been a big one since the game’s change of approach at the World Cup in Qatar a new study has detailed what the Premier League table would look like without it this season.

The length of added time as increased significantly in response to the rising amount of stoppages in matches, due to factors such as VAR and more substitutions.

And Betfair have looked into how things would stand had there not been any in the current campaign.

Their mock up table shows that Man City would be clear at the top, five points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.

The Gunners would be followed closely by Liverpool with Aston villa rounding off the top four.

Late goals like Declan Rice’s against Luton have been crucial to Arsenal’s title challenge

Tottenham would sit just two points off the top four with a five point gap to second-placed Man United.

Chelsea, meanwhile, would find themselves down in 13th, two spots below their current position.

It’s not too surprising that this table sees Arsenal and Liverpool worse off than the real table after a campaign in which both have benefited from a number of late goals.

Mikel Arteta’s side have scored memorable late winners against the likes of Man United and Luton while Jurgen Klopp’s have snatched points at the death against Luton and Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City would be five points clear of Arsenal were it not for goals in injury time
