Al-Sharif: The Association of Islamic Universities receives support from Al-Azhar and His Eminence the Grand Imam

The Secretary-General of the Association of Islamic Universities, Dr. Sami Al-Sharif said that the presence of the Association’s headquarters within the Arab Republic of Egypt is a soft power for Egypt, adding that His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, President of the Association of Islamic Universities, always stresses the importance of the Association remaining in Egypt, and in the embrace of Al-Azhar University.

He pointed out that since the association was allocated a place in the Saleh Kamel Center at Al-Azhar University, it has received all the support and appreciation from Al-Azhar, and the support of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Mosque, and from the President of Al-Azhar University. He said,  "Even though I belong to Cairo University, I blossom in passion. 

 

He also explained that the Association of Islamic Universities, since its inception in 1969 in Morocco, has been seeking coordination between universities that teach Islamic sciences and Arabic language sciences, establishing partnerships between these universities, and contributing to the development of curricula and courses in a manner that It serves the changes of the times, as the association is concerned with the human sciences, and everything related to the cultural and psychological components of humans, as well as what is related to the human side, such as social sciences, psychology, media, and politics.

Al-Sharif revealed that the association includes members from universities classified as non-Islamic, but located in Islamic countries. Membership was classified into active and observer membership. Observer membership is for universities that do not have an Islamic character, so that they can attend and benefit from their experiences and curricula, with the aim of obtaining more openness for the benefit of Islamic universities.< /span>

 

He pointed out that the Islamic world is now full of universities that teach Sharia and non-Sharia sciences. For example, Al-Azhar University does not only teach Sharia sciences, but it also studies agriculture, medicine, engineering, and…, and there are Non-Islamic universities do not pay attention to Sharia sciences, but they teach Sharia sciences. For example, the University of Oxford in Britain grants master’s and doctoral degrees in Sharia sciences, and the University of Wales in Britain grants master’s and doctorate degrees in Sharia sciences, while the British University in Beirut teaches Islamic history.

Dr. explained. Sami Al-Sharif said that the Association pays great attention to employing the media to serve Islamic issues and cooperation between various Islamic universities, stressing that: (media and advocacy are two sides of the same coin); I attribute this to the fact that the preacher aims to convey the message of truth and the message of God to the public, and the media personality aims to deliver the correct, truthful and objective information and message to the public, and the media and advocacy must adhere to credibility and objectivity.< /p>

He also stated that the Association has recently given great attention to the topic (Da’wah and the challenges of the digital age), and has subsequently organized many scientific events that discuss this topic, adding that advocacy work in the digital age &nbsp ; It must keep pace with the times, appreciating the role played by the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments in renewing religious discourse by supporting and training male and female preachers on the computer, the English language, and dealing with modern technology.
