Rashee Rice ‘is old enough to know better’, says FURIOUS Keyshawn Johnson – who compares Chiefs star, 23, to jailed Henry Ruggs as it emerges cops suspect him of racing his Corvette before crashing and fleeing

Keyshawn Johnson tore into Rashee Rice on Monday’s Undisputed, after it emerged the Chiefs Super Bowl winner is suspected by Dallas police of racing his Corvette before crashing it and fleeing the scene.

Cops have been trying to find Rice, 23, because the Corvette is registered to him and Dallas News reported on Sunday that they suspect the Kansas City star was driving.

Johnson, a Super Bowl winner himself with the Bucs in 2003, didn’t hold back when discussing the incident with Skip Bayless on Monday morning.

‘I know him,’ Johnson said. ‘He’s old enough to know better. So I’m p***ed at him.

‘I have already texted him. He ain’t gonna respond to me because my text was not nice. I spent time with plenty of time with him last year before the Draft, here in Los Angeles, in Dallas as well, to get him to understand that life is getting ready to start.

‘He wasn’t the squeakiest, cleanest guy going which is why he probably fell to the second round instead of the late first. Went into a great situation in Kansas City, a great environment.

‘I’m genuinely mad at him. He knows better, I know he knows better. I understand you want to be with the homies, you want to hang out. I get all of that. But everybody should know better.’

Johnson then drew comparisons to Henry Ruggs, who is in jail after pleading guilty to driving under the influence in a collision that resulted in the death of 23-year-old woman Tina Tintor and her dog.

Ruggs was the 12th pic in the 2020 Draft and signed a four-year, $16million deal with the Raiders.

‘In the end, all it takes is that (clicks fingers). All you’ve got to do is look at Henry Ruggs. I knew him too,’ Johnson said.

‘Try to tell him the same thing. It is different now, you ain’t gonna get the pass you would in college in certain situations.

‘I don’t know if he was driving, I don’t know if he wasn’t, I don’t know none of that. I am hoping somebody stole his car. 

‘But if he is involved in it, it is the stupidest thing he could ever be involved in. Driving fast cars, racing somebody, it’s the stupidest thing ever, man. If I want to race, I’ll go to a track. I’m mad at him man, I really am. He knows better.’

Rice grew up in the Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills, Texas and spent all four years of his college career in Dallas at SMU. 

He recorded 79 catches and 938 yards with a team-leading seven touchdown receptions in 16 games (eight starts) after being selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. 

He also had 26 catches for 262 yards and a score in four playoff games to help the Chiefs secure their second straight Super Bowl title. 

He set a franchise rookie playoff record with 130 receiving yards in January’s 26-7 playoff win over Miami Dolphins, earning huge praise from Travis Kelce.

‘I’m proud of him,’ Kelce said. ‘I think he’s come a long way, and I think he’s still ascending as a player in this offense. It’s just been fun to see him rise to the occasion and really just catapult us in a lot of ways both in the pass game and run game.’

Patrick Mahomes is also an admirer and heaped praise on his teammate after Kansas City’s comeback win over Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.

‘He’s a guy who wants it. That’s the biggest thing. He wants to be great,’ Mahomes said. ‘He has a chance to be a great receiver in this league, and we’re going to continue to push him to be that.’

Mahomes and Rice were also practicing together in the offseason earlier in March, with focus already turning the upcoming season where the Chiefs will target an unprecedent Super Bowl ‘three-peat’.
