Aboul Gheit stresses the importance of continuing diplomatic work to stop the war in Gaza and hold Israel accountable for its crimes

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stressed the importance of continuing Arab diplomatic work in order to stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and to ensure that Israel is held accountable for the crimes it committed.

This came in Aboul Gheit’s speech, today, Wednesday, before the extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates, delivered on his behalf by the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Hossam Zaki.

Aboul Gheit said, “We must also struggle in all diplomatic arenas and global forums in order to seize a political horizon for an independent Palestine, after the whole world knew that the status quo was no longer sustainable, and that the occupation It cannot be peaceful or civilized, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only path to peace in Palestine, Israel, and the entire region.”

He added that every diplomatic effort and political action we make in our meetings, Or in various diplomatic corridors and international forums, in order to stop the brutal war in the Gaza Strip, it will not, of course, rise to the level of the crime committed nor to the glory of the sacrifice that the Palestinians make every day of their blood and their children, but it remains a necessary effort and required work that must continue and escalate until this ongoing killing stops. “Six months ago.”

Aboul Gheit explained that global positions have changed and gradually moved towards the Arab position that we all took from day one, which is embodied in the recent Security Council resolution that called for the first time for an immediate ceasefire.” He described it as a “late awakening” and does not absolve those who were silent for months of their responsibility for the occupation’s shedding of Palestinian blood and its orgy of bombing, killing, starvation and displacement in the Gaza Strip, as if we had returned to a stage before international norms that distinguished between military and civilians, and we had returned to a time of lawlessness and inhumanity, indicating that Just yesterday, the occupation forces killed in cold blood seven relief workers working in the Gaza Strip.

Aboul Gheit said, “Many countries that thought this occupation was civilized and civilized – and it cannot be a civilized occupation in any way” have woken up because they witnessed a blatant statement. “And a scandalous example of the random, unscrupulous and inhumane way in which the occupation conducts its military operations against civilians in the Gaza Strip.”

Aboul Gheit warned that what happened was not a mistake as Israel claims, but rather a recurring pattern. One of them was killed. Nearly two hundred relief workers since the start of operations, including 176 from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East “UNRWA” Alone, I do not see any difference between these people and the tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians and children who have been killed in cold blood and without conscience since the start of the war.
