Weather in New York: rain and wind

NEW YORK (WABC) — Rain continues Wednesday as winds pick up, an AccuWeather Alert day with multiple storm impacts expected.

Expect 2 to 3.5 inches of rain, with the heaviest downpours occurring Wednesday night.

Some urban, coastal and river flooding is expected. Wind gusts will reach 40 to 50 mph Wednesday night.

A flood watch and high wind warning has been posted for parts of the area.

Rainfall on Thursday and Friday could be in the form of snow north of the city with large amounts north of the state.

Highs on both days will be around 50 degrees.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has urged residents to prepare for heavy snow, rain and strong gusts of wind that could create dangerous travel and lead to power outages and flooding.
