Abdul Rahman Bahjat is the first player with an intellectual disability to qualify for the Paralympic Games in table tennis

Abdul Rahman Bahgat, a player for the Egyptian Paralympic table tennis team, succeeded in ensuring his presence in the Olympic Games that will be held in Paris next August in the eleventh category competitions.

 

 

This came after Abdul Rahman ranked first in Africa in category 11 according to the classification issued by the International Federation on the first of this April  To become the first player in the history of people with intellectual disabilities to participate in the Paralympic Games.

 

 

It is noteworthy that Abdul Rahman ranks forty-fifth in the world and first in Africa. The International Federation’s regulations require that a player from each continent qualify to be the Egyptian champion who represents the African continent in the Olympic Forum.

 

 

And the men have qualified so far. Islam Raslan is in Category 1, Ahmed Al Mahsi is in Category 2, Khaled Raslan is in Category 3, and Sayed Youssef is in Category 7, in addition to Abdul Rahman Bahjat in Category 11.

While the women qualified: Ola Suleiman, Category 1, Fawzia Al-Shami, Category 3, Mona Abdel Haq, Category 4,   Hanaa Hammad  Category 6, Samah Abdel Aziz, Category 7, Hajar Al-Sayed, Category 8.

 

 

The Egyptian Paralympic Committee, headed by Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, pays great attention In sports for people with disabilities, in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and sports federations that place Paralympic activity on their agenda.

 

 

The Egyptian Paralympic Committee aims to qualify the largest number Of players in various sports and achieving the best achievements while participating in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
