In an attempt to calm tensions, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz held a phone call with his Emirati counterpart, Abdullah bin Zayed. The Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yaakov Blitstein, also held a meeting with the Emirati Ambassador Mohammed Mahmoud Al Khaja.
Sources from i24NEWS indicated that Ambassador Al Khaja described the current situation as " “The worst between the two countries.”
For its part, sources in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Israeli ambassador to Abu Dhabi, Amir Hayek, received a reprimand over the phone from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
