5 Overnight Hairstyles That Give You the Blowout Look with Minimal Effort

Everyone wants to rock shampoo commercial-worthy hair on the daily, but getting up early to tend to your tresses can majorly cut into our beauty sleep. So what’s a gal to do when she wants to look like she just came from the salon and got her eight hours of rest?

Relax!

Overnight hairstyles allow you to hit the snooze button once or twice and wake up with perfectly tousled locks that look effortlessly glam. We’ve got five overnight hairstyle hacks that will make you say goodbye to the blowdryer and good morning to glam with minimal effort.

1. Silk Curling Rods

A head of boho, beachy waves is hot, but everyone knows excessive heat isn’t good for the hair. Silk curling rods are heatless and keep you from being sleepless. Set aside five minutes before bedtime.

  • Start with dry hair, place the satin curling rod(s) in your hair, and wrap.
  • Secure the rod with scrunchies, and go to sleep.
  • In the morning, remove the scrunchies, and allow the rods to glide through your hair.

2. Sock Curls

Put a sock in it—literally. For that ’90s supermodel look, grab your favorite socks. The number you need will depend on how much hair you have and how tightly you wrap your curls.

  • Start with dry hair, and apply a styling product to defrizz and help the curls hold longer.
  • Divide your hair into sections (the smaller the section, the tighter the curl).
  • Take a sock, and place it at the end of your hair.
  • Wrap hair around the sock, starting from the end, rolling upwards towards the scalp.
  • Tuck the sock under the hair, or secure it with a scrunchie.
  • In the morning, unravel each sock, starting from the bottom, and working your way up. Separate the curls if desired.

3. Knotty Curls

Throwing your hair in a topknot is the perfect way to hide a bad hair day, but sleeping with one is also an easy way to add volume to fine hair overnight—no blow dryer necessary.

  • Gather your hair into a ponytail.
  • Twist it into a bun.
  • Secure the bun with a hair tie or bobby pins.

4. Headband Curls

The best part about this hack is you already have the tool in your bathroom beauty drawer. As you sleep, the tension between your hair and the fabric headband creates beautiful bouncy curls when you awake from your slumber.

  • Start with clean, dry hair, and place a stretchy fabric headband around your head. Position the headband where you want your curls to start.
  • Wrap small sections of the hair around the headband and tuck underneath the headband to secure. Continue until all of the hair is wrapped.
  • In the morning, unwind hair from the headband and tousle the curls.

5. Pineapple Pony

This overnight hairstyle resembles the shape of a pineapple. When you wake up, it gives you the waves and volume that make you look like you’re fresh off a tropical vacay.

  • Start with dry hair and flip it upside down.
  • Gather all of your hair at the top of your head.
  • Create a high ponytail and secure it loosely with a scrunchie.
  • In the morning, remove the hair tie and gently shake out the curls.
