"Dubai Financial Services" Reviews opportunities for asset managers in Hong Kong
DUBAI, 5 April / WAM / The Dubai Financial Services Authority hosted a dialogue session with the Securities and Futures Authority in Hong Kong, during which it discussed the opportunities available to asset managers in Hong Kong to distribute investments in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
The session, chaired by Ian Johnston, CEO of the Dubai Financial Services Authority, and Julia Leung, CEO of the Securities and Futures Authority, witnessed the presence of more than 15 senior executives of asset managers in Hong Kong, where Johnston reviewed the DIFC’s regulatory requirements for investment funds. Based in Hong Kong, the opportunities available at the center for asset managers in Hong Kong, including access to investors in the UAE market through the country’s mutual recognition system.
The session was attended by Christina Choi, Executive Director of Investment Products at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Authority, along with David Tait, Assistant Director of Conduct and Supervision at the DFSA, who explained the relevant regulatory requirements at a subsequent seminar.
Ian Johnston, CEO of the Dubai Financial Services Authority, said: We seek to explore opportunities for cooperation between the DIFC and Hong Kong, especially in the asset management sector, stressing the commitment to strengthening cooperation between our leading global financial centers.
Julia Leung, CEO of the Securities and Futures Authority, said: The Securities and Futures Authority is committed to developing broader investment markets for our asset management sector, and we look forward to exploring more cooperation opportunities with the DIFC in the field of asset management.
The Dubai Financial Services Authority stated that it will hold a meeting in cooperation with the Securities and Futures Authority to host specialists in the field of asset management in the Emirate of Dubai during the next month.
