Radhika Apte, Naveen Andrews & Ken Leung Join Justin Lin’s ‘Last Days’

EXCLUSIVE: Radhika Apte (Sister Midnight), Naveen Andrews (The Dropout) and Ken Leung (Avatar: The Last Airbender) have signed on to star opposite the previously announced Sky Yang in Last Daysthe next film from the Fast & Furious franchise’s Justin Lin.

Based on the Outside Magazine article The Last Days of John Allen Chau by journalist Alex Perry, this is the story of John Allen Chau, who believes he has been chosen to save the souls of the uncontacted tribe of North Sentinel Island. Designated as a protected site by the Indian government, John sets on a harrowing journey to proselytize the Sentinelese in his desperate search for identity, purpose, and belonging.

Written by Ben Ripley (Source Code), and marking Lin’s return to his indie roots, the film has just kicked off production in Thailand. In addition to directing, Lin is producing through his Perfect Storm Entertainment, overseen by Salvador Gatdula and Andrew Schneider. Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson will also produce alongside Clayton Townsend and Guja Quaranta. Outside Magazine, Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ George Heller, Luke Speed and Perry will serve as EPs.

An actress, writer, director and producer, Apte most recently starred in the Indian Hindi-language spy comedy Mrs. Undercoveras well as the Apple TV+ drama series, Shantaram. Up next, she’ll be seen in Karan Kandhari’s dramedy Sister Midnightwhich is premiering at Cannes.

Perhaps best known for his lead role opposite Amanda Seyfried in Hulu’s award-winning miniseries The Dropoutproduced by Michael Showalter and Katherine Pope, Andrews has reteamed with Showalter on The Pradeeps of Pittsburghan upcoming comedy series for Amazon Freevee. Other notable credits for the actor include J.J Abrams’ iconic ABC series Lost and Anthony Minghella’s The English Patient.

Currently, Leung can be seen starring in HBO’s Industry and Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender. Other film credits include M. Night Shyamalan’s OldSpike Lee’s Sucker Free CityEdward Norton’s Keeping the Faithand Todd Phillips’ upcoming Joker: Folie a Deux. He’ also been seen on Lostas well as The Sopranos and High Maintenance on HBO.
