Drew McIntyre declares he will LEAVE WWE if he does not defeat Seth Rollins at WrestleMania… with the Scot’s contract set to expire next month and a new deal yet to be agreed

Drew McIntyre has insisted he will leave WWE if he does not defeat Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 on Sunday.

MailSport understands the former two-time world champion is out of contract with WWE in late May and a new deal has not been agreed or signed.

Down the years in WWE, the company would phase out a star from major storylines if they were not going to sign a new contract. Dean Ambrose is a prime example of that before departing to become Jon Moxely in AEW.

For McIntyre, he’s arguably been on the run of his career and certainly his best form since first becoming champion back in the coronavirus pandemic.

Triple H has bucked many trends since taking over operations from Vince McMahon and keeping McIntyre involved in the world title picture is another indicator of a new era.

Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre will do battle on Sunday, night two of WrestleMania 40

Speaking at WWE World – the company’s fan convention during WrestleMania week – McIntyre insisted he will depart WWE if he doesn’t win the title on night two.

‘If I can’t win against Seth Rollins on Sunday, I… quite frankly, I shouldn’t be in this industry. I’ll leave WWE,’ McIntyre told Byron Saxton.

WWE has already announced Clash of the Castle: Scotland for June 15, which takes place at the Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

McIntyre is plastered all over the promotional material and will of course be a big draw as a local hero.

MailSport understands even if he doesn’t sign a new long-term deal just yet, the idea has been discussed that he could sign a short-term agreement so he can perform at the show.

The Scottish Warrior would almost certainly attract a big offer from AEW should he allow himself to enter free agency.

The world’s number two professional wrestling company heads back to Wembley stadium for All In on August 25 later this year and would like the idea of another UK draw like McIntyre.

There is still strong hope that the 38-year-old re-signs with WWE. It’s understood the delay is less about money and more about creative and McIntyre’s importance on the roster.
