Andrew Johns stalker hell: Footy legend is forced to call the cops after allegedly being followed by a man near his lavish beachside home

Andrew Johns was forced to call for police help after the footy legend was allegedly repeatedly followed by a man in his local suburb of Bronte, New South Wales.

NSW Blues legend Johns, 49, first encountered the man while surfing at Bronte Beach on March 29. Police say he was followed into the water and the man allegedly stared at him for a continued period.

When Johns returned home he allegedly saw the same man pacing around on the footpath outside of his property.

The following day, the same 27-year-old man allegedly found Johns at a local cafe. He approached him and once again stared at him for a long period of time.

Johns raised the alarm with NSW Police and the man was arrested on March 31. He has been charged with one count of stalking.

‘A man has been charged following an investigation by officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command into the alleged stalking of a 49-year-old man,’ a NSW Police spokesperson said.

‘On Sunday 31 March 2024, a 27-year-old man was charged with stalking and refused bail.

‘He appeared before Parramatta Local Court yesterday (1 April 2024) and was granted bail.’

However, when police checked the Bondi address given to them by the man as part of his bail conditions, they allegedly discovered that the residence did not exist.

Police found the man the next morning at 9:50am and arrested him for breaching his bail conditions.

A magistrate at Waverley Local Court remanded the man in custody. He is due to undergo a mental health assessment.

Police have also applied for an apprehended personal violence order to protect former Newcastle Knights star Johns.

The 27-year-old man is due to face court on Thursday in relation to the AVO.

Johns is a footy pundit for Channel 9, having enjoyed a hugely successful playing career.

He was the eighth player to be named to the illustrious honour of ‘immortal’.

When contacted for comment by News Corp, Johns said: ‘Sorry mate it’s before the courts. Can’t comment’.
